Owl the Same…or Not Stamp Out Artist’s Blog Hop

Welcome to my little stop on the “Stamp Out” Artist’s Blog Hop, I’m so excited to have you visit!

Owl the Same SO Blog Hop

A little bit about me…

I currently live in central Nebraska and I am blessed in marriage (15 years) to one of my best friends, and we have three terrific children…all ice hockey and soccer players. 🙂 This time of year, I spend most of my days homeschooling and at the ice arena. …and I am very excited when I have some time to myself to draw. We all value our creative time, don’t we!!

I discovered digital stamps in 2009, and I decided to combine my love of drawing and stamping into my own digital stamp business, From the Heart Stamps. I have an amazing design team and team leaders to create card samples, but as far as the business goes, it’s just me. Like many small business owners, I wear many hats including web design, site and store maintenance, marketing/social media, customer suport,…etc.  My daughter’s cat sometimes supervises and keeps me on task, and our golden retriever likes to nap underfoot…do they count as employees?

Like many of you, I balance my business/drawing time with homeschooling, cooking and cleaning, laundry, dishes, and chauffeuring…so glamorous, I know.  Don’t you wish all that work would do itself while you spend time creating? I do! It seems like whenever I slip away for a minute to check email, that’s my kids’ cue to stop working on their school work and start arguing. 😉

I also am privileged to  illustrate for Whipper Snapper Designs rubber stamps, and I just completed my 6th release with them. They have been a wonderful company to work with, and I am grateful for their partnership.Chicken Noodle Soup by Fskrdla

I love learning new things, and enjoy the process of learning, so I have been working hard on my illustration technique over this summer and fall, and I know I have a lot to learn to continue to improve. I studied art and business in college, and I am so thankful for the gifts that God has given me, and the opportunity He has provided for me to do what I love amidst the chaos of our regular family life. It is a blessing to be able to stay at home with my kids. My hope and prayer is to bring glory to God through my artwork, and I pray that someday, in addition to stamps, He will use my art and illustrations in other ways. It’s super cool to be partnering with other artists to use our art to raise money for charity!!

Why Stamp Out (SO) is important to me…

I have been a member of Stamp Out since it was formed. I love SO because of the friendships I have made with other artists, even though technically, we are all competitors. SO has given me the ability to network with so many great artists, and we get to chat on a daily basis for ideas, support, and fun. I have learned so much from the other members, and I am so grateful for their generous and supportive nature. Stamp Out values ethical business and artistic practices, and that is very important to me. It can feel very lonely trying to get stolen art taken down on Pinterest, etc., and it is wonderful to have the support of others that have shared experiences.

Want to partner with Stamp Out? As a stamper, you can help support the artists by joining our Stamp Out Stamp Theft group on Facebook. You can also anonymously report image theft or other concerns to: designatedagent@stampout.info. Thank you for your support!

Once upon a time… there was “a big owl and a little owl perched on a fence on a chilly day”

Now, what you have been waiting for! We decided to come up with a theme for this hop that was not your typical “owl in a tree” and we wanted to illustrate something very specific, each in our own style, and see what difference stamps we would come up with. As I write this, I am just so excited to see what the other artists drew…we have not seen each other’s illustrations. So what would you think of if I said, “draw a big owl and a little owl perched on a fence on a chilly day”? This is what I thought of…

We have lots of barbed wire fences in Nebraska, and I have had the pleasure of helping to repair fence once or twice, so this is the type of fence I drew. And when I think of chilly, I think of snow. 🙂 But I also modified the image for fall and another chilly day sans snow or pumpkins. So you get all three images for the price of one…and only $1 during this blog hop with all proceeds going to Project C.U.R.E. Yay!! Purchase this special image {HERE}.

Did you know….just $1 sends $20 of medical supplies to countries in need. So if you spend one dollar to receive these three digital stamps, $20 of medical supplies will get sent to those in need.

Thank you, talented team leaders, Imke, Kathy, and Calypso, for creating such beautiful cards with this digital stamp. Please click on the photos for their card recipe.

Project C.U.R.E. Charity Event and Special Deal for YOU!

When you purchase this digital stamp for $1 today through October 17th, all of the proceeds will go to Project C.U.R.E. I will make the donation from my shop to our Stamp Out Cargo C.U.R.E page.  At the end of the hop, you can see what we have raised here: Stamp Out Cargo C.U.R.E Page. Our goal is $1000, that is enough to fund 2 pallets of supplies worth $20,000. All 6 artists will be donating the sales of their $1 Owl digital stamps to this cause. You can also make an additional donation by visiting that page, and we hope that other artists that are a part of Stamp Out, but were not able to participate in the blog hop, will show their support with a donation to this wonderful cause. ♥ Thank You!! ♥

You should have arrived here from Mabelle’s blog, and next on the list is Lori. I feel so lucky to be in the middle of such sweet artist friends. 🙂 Thanks for hoping with us! I hope you have enjoyed it!!
